A well-planned visit gets more done and avoids return trips. Here’s how to prepare.
Walk through and write it down
Go room by room, then around the outside. Note every job, however small: a loose towel rail, a cupboard door out of line, a cracked tile, a gate that drags. Small jobs are much easier to add to a visit than to book separately.
Be specific
For each job, note where it is, what’s wrong and what you’d like. “Back gate drops and won’t latch” helps more than “fix gate”.
Take photos
A wide shot shows context; a close-up shows detail. Photos of labels, model numbers and brackets help too.
Measure
Note sizes for doors, shelves, screens, fence runs and deck areas, and the size of a TV you want mounted.
Have materials ready or decide who supplies them
If you’ve chosen fittings, furniture, blinds or brackets, have them on site. Otherwise we can supply common materials.
Prioritise
Mark what matters most, especially anything to do with safety or security, so it’s done first.
Prepare the space
Move fragile items and clear access to walls, cupboards and the roof line. Secure pets.
Access
Tell us about gate codes, steep or long driveways, parking, livestock and anyone else at home. On rural properties, let us know which gates to close.
Know what’s out of scope
Electrical, plumbing, gas, structural, roofing beyond small items, tree felling and asbestos need specialists. If your list includes these, we’ll tell you.
